In6f5abf3146this code was fixed to calculate the maximum size of an attribute in a seperate pass and then allocate the registers to that size. However this wasn’t taking into account ranges that overlap but don’t have the same starting location. For example: layout(location = 0, component = 0) out float a[4]; layout(location = 2, component = 1) out float b[4]; Previously, if ‘a’ was processed first then it would allocate a register of size 4 for location 0 and it wouldn’t allocate another register for location 2 because it would already be covered by the range of 0. Then if something tries to write to b[2] it would try to write past the end of the register allocated for ‘a’ and it would hit an assert. This patch changes it to scan for any overlapping ranges that start within each range to calculate the maximum extent and allocate that instead. Build & install
---------------
You can find more information in our documentation (`docs/install.html
<https://mesa3d.org/install.html>`_), but the recommended way is to use
Meson (`docs/meson.html <https://mesa3d.org/meson.html>`_):
.. code-block:: sh
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
$ meson ..
$ sudo ninja install
Support
-------
Many Mesa devs hang on IRC; if you're not sure which channel is
appropriate, you should ask your question on `Freenode's #dri-devel
<irc://chat.freenode.net#dri-devel>`_, someone will redirect you if
necessary.
Remember that not everyone is in the same timezone as you, so it might
take a while before someone qualified sees your question.
To figure out who you're talking to, or which nick to ping for your
question, check out `Who's Who on IRC

The next best option is to ask your question in an email to the
mailing lists: `mesa-dev\@lists.freedesktop.org
